According to Mrs. Delphine Brew-Hammond, the Director of Events and Operations for Miss Tourism Ghana, the 2023 edition will highlight tourism as the “Heart of Ghana.” The aim is to promote the need for Ghanaians to love and support tourism in the country, as it is a multi-sectoral industry that contributes significantly to economic development.

Mrs. Brew-Hammond also explained that the pageant’s vision is to showcase Ghana as a premier travel destination by training young ladies to become ambassadors for Ghana’s rich and diverse regional cultures. The contestants will attend festivals and celebrations, as well as tour many historic landmarks.

Interestingly, the contestants do not represent the regions they hail from, but instead learn about other regions to promote tolerance and unity among Ghanaians.

For the most part, the selection processes leading to the main event will begin with auditions in May and June. The whole month of May is dedicated to auditioning in Accra, followed by showcasing what the heart of Ghana represents, such as its people, politics, entertainment, religion, culture, and heritage.

Mr. Jones Aruna Nelson, the Director of Corporate Affairs of GTA, said that besides unearthing the talents and skills of young ladies in the country, the pageant would also project Ghana’s image internationally. He urged Ghanaians to continue experiencing Ghana and sharing Ghana, as this would help promote the country’s tourism sector.

In conclusion, the Miss Tourism Ghana pageant is an exciting opportunity to celebrate Ghana’s cultural diversity while promoting the country’s tourism industry. It is an excellent platform to showcase Ghana’s unique tourist destinations, historic landmarks, and cultural heritage to the world. The pageant will also provide a platform for young Ghanaian women to become ambassadors for their country, showcasing their talents and skills to the world.
